MBA Concentration: Management Consulting, Marketing
Background: Financial Service Operations, Non-Profit Administration
Career Goals: Consulting
What did you do for your Internship?
My summer internship was with North Highland, a global consulting firm. I was based in Charlotte, on an operational risk project for a Top 5 financial services client. Our team designed a methodology, process, and tools to enable the client to identify and manage risk in their population of suppliers. In my 3rd week, I was presenting to the client! My team both challenged and supported me–the same dynamic I find here at Kenan-Flagler.
What will you be doing next semester?
Lots. I will travel to Israel for a short DBI global experience in Tel Aviv. During my free time I plan to visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth—as well as many restaurants and beaches. Along with Ashley, Jane, Shawn and Steve, I am serving on the inaugural
Consortium-Dean’s Fellows project. Our mandate is to develop strategic recommendations for a new function at Kenan-Flagler: Global Corporate Relations. We aim to set the bar high so that future Consortium classes will have opportunity to contribute to the school via
a prestigious Fellow’s project.
What does your Kenan-Flagler and Consortium network mean to you?
The Consortium reaffirms my belief that excellence and equity are not competing values; they are intertwined.
In three words, define who you are and why?
Curious-
I have lots of questions and am interested in lots of differ topics. In my first year I attended presentations for companies I didn’t plan to apply to because I wanted to learn about their business or industry.
Persistent-
bordering on defiant. If someone says,“it’s really hard,” that is like a dare and I pursue it.
Square-
I value education. I love my 80-lb Kenan-Flagler backpack. It’s a happy marker of my status as a student.
What is an interesting personal fact that you would like to share?
I grew up in Philadelphia and every summer our extended family–grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins–spent a week at the Jersey Shore in Wildwood beach. My Jersey memories are the complete opposite of what we see of the show–My Jersey shore meant running away from jellyfish, eating ice cream waffles, and screaming all the way down the giant slide.
