Where did you grow up? Detroit, MI
Position prior to Kenan-Flagler: Consultant at Accenture
MBA Concentration: Real Estate & Finance
Undergraduate Institution: University of Michigan
Summer 2012 Internship Summer Associate, Lancaster Pollard & Co. (Boutique Investment
Bank)
Why did you choose Kenan-Flagler? I chose Kenan-Flagler because of the strength of the Real Estate program, the emphasis on community, and the depth of extracurricular offerings.
How will you make an impact after your time at Kenan-Flagler? I place a great deal of importance on staying engaged with the Kenan-Flagler community after graduation. I plan advocate for Kenan-Flagler recruitment in my future employment, return to campus to participate in events, such as IKF and Experience Weekend, and act as a resource for current students, providing mentorship and career guidance.
What has been your most memorable moment at Kenan-Flagler? My most memorable moment at Kenan-Flagler was participating in the Cuba/Panama GIE, during my first year. Going to Cuba was a once in a lifetime experience, and I probably would not have been able to do it, if not for Kenan-Flagler. I was able to learn a great deal about Cuban culture and history, and clear up some of my misconceptions about how the Cuban people view US citizens. Additionally, I learned about the recent real estate boom in Panama, and how businesses operate in that country. Of course we had a lot of fun too.
Post-MBA Career Goals: I will use my MBA to transition into the field of real estate development and investment. Eventually, I plan to become a successful entrepreneur, running a commercial real estate investment and development firm, focusing on investments in underserved urban markets.
What three words best describe you and why? Honest – I believe that honesty is one of the most important characteristics of a
person. I am always willing to be upfront, even when what I am saying is unpopular. Driven – I continue to push myself to achieve my goals. I think that in business school, most of us are driven, but I tend to stand out even in such an environment. Passionate – When I have an interest in something, I put my all into it. I become very passionate about these interests and it shows.
How will you define success within the MBA program? I have three success factors by which I measure my time in the MBA program: 1.
Developing valuable relationships with my classmates, and members of the Kenan-Flagler network. 2. Contributing to the Kenan-Flagler community through extracurricular activities. 3. Taking full advantage of Kenan-Flagler’s academic resources, to make a successful transition into my desired field.
