MBA concentration: Consulting and Sustainability
Background
BS in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and Management Information Systems
BA in Spanish
Associate, Real Capital Markets Division, Wachovia Bank, a Wells Fargo division 2004-2008
Career goals
To pursue a general management role with a company in the health care industry. I hope to work collaboratively across a number of functions while making a difference in people's health and lives.
What did you do for your internship?
After completing a Global Business Project in Brazil focused on sustainability, I worked on a consulting project for the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. I was excited to work with the Kenan Institute because my project focused on the economic development of a region of North Carolina I call home. The internship afforded me the chance to bring to bear my community development, real estate, and financial skills to help create recommendations on how best to develop the region.
A tidbit about your personal life that you do not mind sharing
I am happy to say that I will be getting married in June 2010 to a man that has supported me throughout the business school process.
Why you chose Kenan-Flagler
Culture fit
Small class size and individualized attention
Strong focus on International Programs
Recognized for its expertise in Real Estate
Proximity to my family
Student life
I am the Inside Kenan Flagler Event Co-Chair, which means I get to work with current students and alumni to plan a weekend event that showcases Kenan-Flagler Business School to prospective minority students. This position is a great way for me to help prospective students realize the benefits of attending Kenan-Flagler and pursuing a MBA degree. I also serve as the community development chair for the Running Club. In this role, I coordinate various running based community fundraising events.
Your second year as a MBA
As a second year MBA, I had the opportunity to fulfill my reasons for attending UNC Kenan-Flagler. I travelled to India and also Chile. I completed a Doing Business in India. Doing Business is a 10-day trip to a particular country where students have the opportunity to learn about the culture in a classroom environment and also have the chance to meet with business and corporate leaders. This year, I also studied in Chile where I witnessed the wide reach of the Kenan-Flagler network. While in Chile, I met with a number of alumni who willingly shared their experiences working in Latin America and how Kenan-Flagler prepared them for their career.
Your Kenan-Flagler and Consortium Network
There is a sense of pride and belonging at Kenan-Flagler. Our alumni are passionate about providing career guidance to members of the student body. I have knit lasting professional and personal relationships which I have very much cherish.
