MBA Concentration: Marketing
Background: I’ve worked in the cosmetics and fashion industries in Manhattan in the global marketing department and in the buying realm. I briefly started my own wholesale business before returning to school for my MBA.
Career Goals: I want to go back into global marketing and be an “intrapreneur” tackling new concepts and ultimately finding new categories or marketing vehicles to elevate the brands I am managing.
What did you do for your Internship?
I worked for Nike in Beaverton, Oregon as a Global Marketing & Strategy intern in the Athletic Training category.
What will you be doing next semester?
I will be going on a study abroad exchange in Melbourne, Australia. One of the reasons I chose UNC Kenan-Flagler was because of its strong study abroad program ties to schools in Australia. Having grown up as an expat in South East Asia, I knew I wanted to gain an international business education in Asia for a portion of my MBA experience and have always loved Australia as a kid. With Australia’s economy strengthening I think this is the perfect chance to get reacquainted with my international roots and help develop my international business background to allow me to work overseas after graduation.
What does your Kenan-Flagler and Consortium Network mean to you?
The Consortium to me means excellence and a strong support network. From the start I was proud to be a Consortium member and given tools to succeed in business such as one-on-one interview preparation, resume preparation with CMC counselors, and alumni mentors and classmate support, all before even starting school.
I have made many close friends in my Consortium class.
After two years at Kenan-Flagler, it’s amazing that we are still a very close group of individuals. The Consortium has been the one constant and it truly is a remarkable program and mission that I wish every student could be associated with. Kenan-Flagler itself has allowed me to develop myself as a leader through the strong leadership program and has given me the well-rounded business background I was looking for. The two combined have given me the ultimate MBA experience and I look forward to giving back to the Consortium after graduation and telling others about the fantastic program.
In three words, define who you are and why?
Cosmopolitan, Passionate, Fun
Cosmopolitan because I’m Colombian-Irish, but grew up in New York, Texas, Hong Kong and Thailand. Passionate and Fun because I’m driven and go after what I want, but I don’t take myself too seriously and try to enjoy each experience.
What is an interesting personal fact that you would like to share?
I can throw a football better than most guys.
